Heart Centered Mediation

A Calmer Way To Resolve Family Disputes

Designed to help parents move forward without putting children in the middle

When communication is difficult and every decision seems to become another disagreement, it can be exhausting trying to figure out what comes next.

Mediation offers a different way forward.

At Heart Centered Mediation, we help parents work through difficult decisions in a structured, respectful setting where the focus stays on what needs to be resolved rather than repeating old arguments.

We listen for what matters most, help clarify each parent’s priorities, and guide conversations toward practical agreements that reflect your family’s circumstances.

Our goal is to help you reduce conflict, regain a sense of direction, and make thoughtful decisions that work in real life, while keeping your children out of the middle.

A Structured Process, Designed to Work

We believe mediation works best when it begins with thoughtful preparation and a clear process.

Each case is approached with care, professionalism, and respect for everyone involved. We remain neutral, do not decide the outcome, and do not provide legal advice. Instead, we guide the process, help identify priorities, and support productive conversation.

This approach can be especially helpful when communication has become difficult, trust is strained, or previous attempts to resolve issues have not worked.

Co-Mediation: Additional Support When Needed

Some situations are more complex or involve particularly difficult communication. In these cases, co-mediation can provide additional structure and support.

With co-mediation, two trained mediators work together to guide the process. This team approach can bring different perspectives, provide additional balance, and help conversations stay focused.

Co-mediation may be helpful when:

  • tensions are high
  • multiple perspectives could support the process
  • additional structure may help difficult conversations
  • a team-based approach would provide greater comfort or clarity

If you think co-mediation may be helpful for your situation, you can request it on the intake form.

Hi, I’m Lynn.

I grew up in rural Vermont, where I knew all my neighbors, played outside until dark, and thought the world was the size of my hometown. Then, at twelve, my parents moved us to Colorado, and everything changed. Leaving behind friends and family was hard, but that’s when I discovered horses, and the life lessons they had to teach.

Riding taught me a lot about calm communication, patience, and resilience, especially the part where you fall, get bruised, and get right back in the saddle! At the time, I didn’t realize how much those lessons would shape the way I handle conflict and guide difficult conversations today.

My approach to mediation comes from years of helping people through change, conflict, and difficult decisions. I’ve worked for decades in roles that required clear communication, emotional awareness, and practical problem-solving, including insurance, finance, office management, and leadership development.

Over time, mediation became the place where all of those skills came together. After mediating informally for many years, I completed formal training in basic and family mediation, along with specialized training for cases involving protection orders, child welfare matters, and other complex family situations.

Today, I provide virtual family and civil mediation, working primarily with families in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Colorado, and serving clients across the U.S. as appropriate.

After going through a high-conflict divorce myself, I felt deeply called to work directly with families facing difficult transitions. With my husband’s support, we created Heart Centered Mediation and thoughtfully built this website with parents in mind. We wanted to create a place where parents could come and immediately feel understood and supported, because having the right support during a difficult time can make all the difference.

I live with my husband and our two daughters in Iowa. When I’m not mediating or homeschooling, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, archery, hiking, cooking with my family, playing chess, and learning new things.

If you have questions or would like to learn more about mediation, please feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to talk with you.
